Coca-Cola Sweden, starts a cooperation with badminton player Ashwathi Pillai, as ambassador for the sports drink Powerade. The 18-year-old talent has, among other titles, won gold in the Youth Olympics, and is now focusing on qualifying for the Olympics in Tokyo 2020. The partnership with Powerade runs until the end of 2020 and will be activated in different contexts during the contract time.
Ashwathi Pillai has won several national Senior and international junior competitions and competes from this season on the senior tour to qualify for the Olympics.
– Having Ashwathi Pillai as ambassador for Powerade is fantastic. She is a young and promising sports star that we strongly believe in and we are happy to associate her with Powerade, says Cecilia Lindau, senior brand manager at Coca-Cola AB.
Powerade is the official sports drink at several of the world’s largest sports events. Since 1988, the sports drinks have helped restore the Olympic participants’ fluid balance.
– It is very motivating that Powerade believes in me and that I’m a part of their plans for the Tokyo Olympics. I look forward to represent Powerade both on and off the court, says Ashwathi Pillai.
Coca-Cola has been an official sponsor of the Olympics since 1928 and recently extended the global partnership until 2032 – a historically long sponsorship of 104 years.

About Ashwathi Pillai
Ashwathi Pillai is 18 years old, raised in India and moved to Sweden as a 10-year-old. Her home club is Täby Badminton Club and she also represents Team Skælskør in Denmark. Ashwathi Pillai took gold in the Youth Olympics 2018 in Team Mixed.
